-
CAD Configurator - This area guides the user through the configuration of a CAD model by the creation of a product number. Once a valid part number has been configured the red buttons will turn to green making available all of the following options:
- Add Part To Briefcase - This button will add the valid part number to the list of parts in the Briefcase and take the user to the Briefcase page. For more information on the Briefcase, click here.

Briefcase:
The Briefcase offers users a place to store their configured part numbers before requesting CAD models. It can also be used to send a request for multiple CAD models simultaneously. Clicking the "Briefcase" button will take the user to their list of configured part numbers:
There are two ways to move a configured part number to the briefcase:
- Configure a new part number and choose the "Add Part To Briefcase" option
- Move a previously requested part number to the Briefcase from your History
To request the CAD models specified by your configured part numbers, just check the "Check to Get CAD" box for each PHD part you would like. You also have the option of open/extended or closed/retracted for each CAD model you request. Each Part Number has a Format of either "Native/Neutral" or "Wireframe/Surfaced". All of the Native/Neutral CAD models will be sent in the same email and zipped up in one zip file. You can choose up to three Native/Neutral formats for your group of CAD model requests by using the "Change Formats" button. Wireframe/Surfaced models will arrive in an email separate of any Native/Neutral CAD models. You can choose one of the five Wireframe/Surfaced formats for these CAD models by using the radio buttons at the top of the screen. You can also change the recipient of the emails at the top of the page.
When you have all of the options set to exactly how you would like to receive them, click the "Submit CAD Requests" button in the middle of the page. This will submit your requests and build the CAD models as you have specified. This will also move all of the checked part numbers from your Briefcase to your History. To remove a part number from your Briefcase without submitting a request, simply click the "Delete" button for the part number you would like to remove. Please note, the direct download option is not available with the Briefcase at this time.

You can move part numbers from your History to your Briefcase by checking the boxes under "Copy to Briefcase?". Edit Profile:
The Account Management page allows you to change your contact information and your preferences. There are four sections to the Account Management page:
- Account Information - You can edit your contact information associated with your account here. It is imperative that your email address is accurate so that the files can be sent to you correctly should you choose the email option. All the maroon fields are required. Also note that you can enable autologin here.
- CAD Formats - We provide support for a large variety of CAD formats in both 2D and 3D styles which includes most of the more popular ones in use today. Nearly all of our CAD models are available in native formats such as Catia, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, etc., which can be imported directly into a CAD environment giving the user all of the features and functionality of his CAD station. Our native files are assemblies, not a part, so you are able to manipulate the model providing the user with a broader range of uses. In addition to native formats, we also offer a variety of neutral formats such as Step, Parasolid, SAT, etc. which, after going through a short translation process, will open within most CAD environments providing you with a very functional CAD model. Finally, we offer a handful of products in just the dxf, iges and iges surfaced formats. These are just basic wireframe models for providing both an idea of the product's appearance as well as some dimensional information. The surfaced iges models are similar to the neutral formats as they need to go through a translation process, and can provide a good reference model but generally aren't as compatible with CAD systems as the standard neutral files.
- File Delivery Options - These options will determine how you receive your CAD models:
- Zip File Extension - Some companies have begun blocking ".zip" attachments as a measure for virus prevention. If your company is one of these, PHD gives you the option to rename the zip files with a ".zcm" (Zipped CAD Model) extension. The file type is still a zipped file so if your company blocks the zip file type, then the alternate zip file extension will not work for you.
- Drawing Option Default - You have the option of receiving your CAD models in one of two positions:
 Open/Extended
|
 Closed/Retracted
|
- Delivery Method - You have two options on how your CAD models will be delivered. The direct download option allows you to download your CAD models through your web browser. You will have to wait for a brief period while your CAD models are generated (most take less than two minutes). Your download is accessible for up to three days through your History page. The other option is to have your CAD models emailed to your account. (In most cases you can also change the email address so that it can be emailed directly to a customer or co-worker.
- Email Format - If the "Email Zipped File" delivery method is chosen, you also have a choice of receiving the email in text format or HTML format.
- Menu Selection Default - You can choose whether you want to use our new graphics-based configurator or our traditional text-based configurator:
